An Adventurous Ascent of Tanzania’s Second-Highest Peak
Overview
Mount Meru (4,566m), located in Arusha National Park, is Tanzania’s second-highest mountain and often regarded as Kilimanjaro’s little brother. The trek offers breathtaking scenery, diverse wildlife, and fewer crowds compared to Kilimanjaro, making it an ideal adventure for climbers seeking both nature and challenge. Along the trail, trekkers encounter giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, and colobus monkeys, before ascending through forests, moorlands, and rocky ridges to the summit at Socialist Peak. From the top, climbers are rewarded with stunning sunrise views over Mount Kilimanjaro and the vast plains of Arusha.
Day 0: Pick up from the airport
Upon arrival, we will pick you up from Kilimanjaro Airport and start our drive to Arusha where you will spend the night at Ibrahim Garden Hostel.
OCTOBER 7th 2025 Day 1: Arusha – Momela Gate.
Morning after breakfast at 8:30 am at the hostel, pick up and drive to Momela Gate at Arusha National Park. After the registration with an armed ranger starting climbing the mountain; through a long way to Miriakamba Hut. 5hrs trek. Colobus monkeys, buffalos and friendly Giraffe can be witnessed along the way. Dinner and overnight stay at Miriakamba Hut.
OCTOBER 8th 2025:- Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Sadle Hut.
Early in the morning depart with packed lunch after breakfast to Saddle hut. 5 to 6 hours trek. Evening visits little Meru for the sunrise. Dinner and overnight stay at Saddle Hut.
OCTOBER 9th 2025:- DAY 3:- Early hours at the morning after a cup of tea or coffee, (2:30am) depart Saddle hut to socialist peak 4556 matters. After the sunrise, descending down to Momela Gate via Saddle and Miriakamba. Arrival and waiting car will be there ready for transfer back to Arusha city.
CLIMBING GROUP PRICE: 700 PER PERSON / GROUP SIZE: 4 -5 PEOPLE.
